Nile Street Multimedia specialises in online training development.
Online training can provide very effective student or employee training and can make up a substantive part of your organisations learning and development.
Unfortunately much elearning is based around a model of presenting information and then testing to see if the student retained the required points. This is boring for the learner, not very effective and generally does not properly focus on solving the fundamental problem that was the initial reason for developing the training. It is a mistake to just assume that because a learner has more information that they will necessarily perform better or safer.
Good elearning design finds creative ways to motivate and engage the learner. This is not always a simple a process, but the ROI can be substantial from a much more targeted approach. Ideally we can have a measurable before and after metrics that will give us feedback on how effective the training has been at both changing behaviour and achieving the desired project goals.
Online training can visually demonstrate some material exceptionally well. This is especially true for software training solutions. Online training is a very efficient means of delivering software training. We can develop online courses that document your specific applications or procedures. We can provide very cost effective solutions that can both demonstrate and/or test the use of your software.
As long as it is well designed online training forces each and every student to engage with the material. This can mean a much more uniform delivery of the material. It eliminates the learner being able to sit at the back of a class hidden by the engagement of others.
It is easy to access for those that are separated geographically or by time.
We can develop online courses that can be used as part of new employee induction. Where these online courses are integrated in a Learning Management System (LMS) essential information for new employees or contractors is easily delivered and then documented before they start work.
Components of Online Training Development
There are a number of different tools and skills associated with assembling online training.
As an elearning designer we assist in the understanding of, and supply of, the components for online training development. The choice depends on the client’s needs, budget and their level of internal expertise.
We have skills in instructional design which help design courses that are effective and are targeted to achieving a clearly designed outcome.
We develop courses using Articulate Storyline. This platform allows for rapid development, integrated video, many different question types and output suitable for mobile devices.
We believe in using SAM (Successive Approximation Model) for development and Storyline is ideal for this continuous develop and review model. We find this works well with teams that may not be very experienced in course development because it helps them visualise early on what the end result may look like.
We have worked with a number of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and we can provide a hosted solution where the client does not already have an existing LMS.
Courses developed using Articulate Storyline can readily be loaded into your existing Learning Management System.
We collaborate with jonburke creative digital video in the development of online training material and training videos. Often custom video can add significantly to the way the course engages with the learner. Jon Burke has a wide breadth of experience in the creation of safety, training and corporate video material and this ensures the finished product has both quality content and quality delivery.
